Sly Fox Will Open Pottstown Brewery, Sell Royersford Location

The brewpub first opened in Phoenixville in 1995.

In a move that will triple its production of beers like Pikeland Pils, Royal Weisse and O’Reilly’s Stout, Sly Fox Brewing will open a 30,000-square foot production brewery in Pottstown.

As a “first step,” according to a news release, the will be sold. Stacey and Bryan Hebert will take over at that location. Stacey Hebert is currently the manager of the Royersford location.

“Under our agreement, Sly Fox will still operate the restaurant until the liquor license has been transferred and we will continue making beer in our brewery in the rear of the building until our new plant is operational, which we hope will happen before the end of the year,” John Giannopoulos, managing partner of Sly Fox, said in a news release.

Operations will continue as usual at the Phoenixville location of Sly Fox, located on Kimberton Road.

As for the new production brewery, it’s located at 331 Circle of Progress in the Pottstown Airport Business Center. Sly Fox has owned that location since the beginning of the year, and it’s been home to the executive offices and a warehouse. The new brewery may also feature a tasting room, pending zoning relief.

New and old equipment will be moved in to the new brewery, where the roof was already raised to accommodate large tanks.

"We have to be able to make more beer in order to meet the demand and we also want to grow the business in both our present markets and look to expand into some new markets,” said Peter Giannopoulos, managing partner. “We want our focus to be entirely on beer going forward."

The Sly Fox opened its Phoenixville location in 1995. The brewpub moved across the street to a new location off of Kimberton Road in 2010. Sly Fox’s Royersford location opened its doors in 2004.
