Yogurt, Dog Food, Monsters Inc. Toy Recalled

Purina ONE BeyOnd dog food and several varieties of Chobani yogurt are among items recalled.


Here is a look at three recent recalls that may be in local homes:

New Dog Food Recall: Purina ONE

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Monday that Nestlé Purina has voluntarily recalled bags of Purina ONE beyOnd Our White Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe Adult Dry Dog Food because of possible contamination with Salmonella.

The 3.5-pound bags are from a single production run and were distributed nationwide.

Included in the recall:
  • 3.5 lb. Bags
  • ‘Best By’ Date and Production Code: OCT 2014 31071083
  • UPC Code: 17800 12679

The Salmonella was found during routine testing. No illnesses have been reported.

People who handle Salmonella-contaminated products can also become sick. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.

Pets with Salmonella infections may exhibit decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain.

Nestlé has apologized “any inconvenience due to this voluntary recall.”

Chobani Green Yogurt Recalled for Reports of "Bloating and Swelling"

Chobani is recalling its Greek yogurt, according to a press release from the Food and Drug Administration.

The company says it ceased distribution of the yogurt “due to reports of product bloating and swelling and some claims of illness” as it looks for the cause.

Consumers who have purchased the product should discard the product and may contact Chobani's Customer Loyalty Team or call the company at 877-847-6181 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Build-A-Bear Recalls Stuffed Sulley Monster

Build-A-Bear announced it is recalling the Sulley stuffed animal, a character from Monsters Inc. and Monsters University.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall alert, the eyes on the stuffed animal can "detach, posing a choking hazard to young children."

The blue eyes measure about one inch in diameter.

A tracking label ending in 4384 or 4385 can be found sewn in the label on the backside of the leg of the stuffed monster. The monsters were sold in store and online during June.

Consumers should take the recalled Sully monster from children and return it to any Build-A-Bear Workshop store to receive a coupon for any stuffed animal from Build-A-Bear Workshop.
