Mayor Nutter Appoints New Members to Philadelphia Works Board of Directors

PHILADELPHIA, PA- Philadelphia Works, the city’s lead workforce development organization, has welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors. The new members were appointed by Mayor Michael A. Nutter. The new appointees are Jim Gillece, Chief People Officer and Senior Vice President of AlliedBarton Security Services; Margaret Jones, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Gabriel Mandujano, Founder and Owner of Wash Cycle Laundry; Peter Tubolino, Mid-Atlantic Area Manager for Siemens Building Technologies; and Bud Tyler, Vice President of New Business Development for the EF Precision Group.  

“We are so pleased to add these diverse executives to our Board of Directors,” said Philadelphia Works President and CEO Mark Edwards. “They will provide invaluable skills and new perspectives as we strengthen relationships with industries in growth sectors such as advanced manufacturing, healthcare and small business. We have prioritized these and other industry sectors in our strategic plan in order to focus our work connecting employers with a more skilled and diverse workforce.” 

The Board of Philadelphia Works serves as the city’s official Workforce Investment Board, providing strategic and policy guidance and investing public funds to guarantee that opportunities exist for all Philadelphians to become productive members of the workforce. The board also helps ensure that businesses in Philadelphia will have the qualified talent necessary to flourish as the economy recovers. The board is business-led, with a majority of the 30 board members representing the private sector.

Jim Gillece is the Chief People Officer and Senior Vice President of Human Capital Management for AlliedBarton Security Services. With over 60,000 employees, Mr. Gillece oversees all Human Capital Management processes for AlliedBarton.  He is a graduate of LaSalle University and received his MBA in Pharmaceutical Marketing at The Haub School of Business at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Mr. Gillece also received a postgraduate certificate from the Yale Executive School of Management in Leadership and Team Development. Mr. Gillece is a requested national speaker in the areas of Human Capital Management. In addition, he is a member of the Talent Magazine Editorial Board and a local board member of the American Heart Association.  He currently resides in Phoenixville, PA.

Margaret Jones is Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Her primary responsibilities are in the areas of governance and oversight of strategy, marketing and government affairs. Previously, she served in similar roles at the University of Utah, the University Hospitals and Clinics, and Beth Medical Center.  Ms. Jones earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Vassar College and her MS in Human Resources Management from the New School University. She has served on a number of non-profit and advisory boards, including the Life Sciences Career Alliance, Philadelphia Human Resources Planning Group, The Parent Infant Center, Employment Learning Innovations advisory board, Deloitte advisory council, the Association of Healthcare Human Resource Administrators of Greater New York, and the University HealthSystem Consortium Human Resources Officers Council.  She currently resides in Villanova, PA.

Gabriel Mandujano founded Wash Cycle Laundry in Philadelphia to combine his interests in economic development and environmental sustainability. As a small business owner, he aims to benefit economically while at the same time making a positive social impact. Seeing investing in sustainability as an opportunity, Mr. Mandujano’s goals with Wash Cycle Laundry are to put social responsibility and dedication to the environment into every aspect of its business. Mr. Mandujano has previously served as the Executive Director of the Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation in Philadelphia and as Manager of Strategic Alliances for the Center for Sustainable Transport in Mexico City. He is on the board of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia.  He currently resides in West Philadelphia.

Peter Tubolino is a Multi-Divisional Area Business Manager for Building Technologies, Inc., a division of Siemens Industry. He is responsible for overall management and P&L of a $100 million building technologies business in the Mid-Atlantic region with multiple branch locations. Mr. Tubolino leads the direct management of sales, operations and service managers for each business unit and branch, with a specific focus in Multi Divisional Business Growth, Planning and Management, and Strategic Selling. He has spent over 30 years with Siemens Industry, moving up from an entry-level position as Design Engineer to a top divisional Sales Manager. Mr. Tubolino received his BS in Industrial Engineering Technology from State University of New York College at Buffalo.  He currently resides in North Wales, PA.

Bud Tyler is Vice President for New Business Development at the EF Precision Group, a turnkey solutions provider and contract manufacturer with both electromechanical assembly and CNC machining facilities. EF Precision has over 50 CNC machines for custom construction of complex mechanical assemblies. The machine shop is complimented by an Engineering firm that provides custom design and build machines for the medical, semiconductor, OEM, aerospace, and defense industries. Prior to working with EF Precision Group, Mr. Tyler served as the Director of Materials at Johnson & Johnson. During his time at Johnson & Johnson, he was a part of the team that developed technologies leading to the introduction and advancement of the field of laser eye surgery.

Mr. Tyler earned his degree in Business and Marketing from the Community College of Philadelphia. He is active on several local boards and professional groups including the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executives Group, the Small Business Board of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center, and the Strategic Early Warning Network.  He currently resides in Jenkintown, PA.
