PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (March 12, 2014) -- The Phoenixville Area Police Athletic League (PAL) was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Phoenixville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to fund PAL youth programs including: boxing, wrestling, golf clinics and babysitting certification classes.
“PAL is so grateful to the VFW for partnering with us to help bring unique after-school programs to our community,” said Officer Jim Deoria, executive director of the Phoenixville Area Police Athletic League. “Thanks to the VFW’s support and very generous donation, together we can impact the lives of many children.”
The VFW grant will fund PAL enrichment and athletic programs designed to keep kids off the streets and out of trouble. PAL does not charge participants fees and most programs are free. PAL programs are open to all Phoenixville youth and focus on building confidence and self-esteem, as well as leadership and decision-making skills.
