The Phoenixville Area School Board will hold a special meeting July 19.

School Board Meets Tonight: Yes, the board was supposed to be taking it relatively easy in July, with no meetings scheduled. However, tonight, a personnel committee meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by a special meeting of the board of directors at 6:45 p.m. Come to find out what’s happening, or just to check out the new administration building on City Line Avenue. Here’s the agenda for tonight.

Fire Policeman Dies in the Line of Duty: According to reports, John Lockovic, 61, a fire police lieutenant with the Valley Forge Fire Company, died of cardiac arrest hours after responding to a fatal motorcycle accident in Pennsbury. According to Firehouse.com, members of West End Ambulance found Lockovic in cardiac arrest.

Phoenixville’s Got Talent: Steel City Coffeehouse is looking for local talent. Sign ups have been happening for some time now, and tonight is the night. kicks off at 7 p.m. It’s $5 to get in, and it should prove to be a nice way to spend a Tuesday evening.

Purple Boxes for Bugs: You might’ve seen some purple boxes dangling from ash trees along area roads. There’s one on Egypt Road and I’ve spotted at least one on Route 422 in the area.
