A Day Of Bike Racing in Phoenixville

The Chesco Grand Prix rolls through the borough.

The Phoenixville Criterium, the third of seven races that comprise the Chesco Grand Prix cycling series, turned the main streets of Phoenixville into a race course on Saturday. There were nine races in all; some for children and amateur adult riders, as well as a race for professionals. With a lap of the course being 1.3 miles and the premier pro race being 32 laps, the race tested athleticism and heat endurance. Some roads were closed for the day with the longest closed section being on Main Street—the long straight stretch of the race.

The area around the start/finish line on Bridge Street from Gay to Main was filled with spectators, who cheered on riders, dined, dank, took photos, and generally enjoyed themselves. Our gallery of photos gives a glimpse of the event.
