Five Things to Know About Our Deck the House Contest

Phoenixville won't be represented in the national contest if no one enters today.

1. There are no entries for Phoenixville.

It will be way more fun if there are entries, because there's a voting period where everyone can chime in and cast their votes for their favorite holiday house.

But, there is a bright side to this. If you enter now, you would be the only one from Phoenixville, so you wouldn't have any competition at all to move on to the next level.

Of course, competition is healthy, so here's hoping more than one entry comes in!

2. You have to go here to enter: http://deckthehouse.patch.com/contest/phoenixville

It only takes a few minutes to enter, and if you have a Facebook account it's even quicker. If you try to enter and have any technical problems, please let me know at lynn.jusinski@patch.com.

3. The prize helps local schools.

Either Phoenixville Area School District or Spring-Ford Area School District (if the winning home is just across the river) could win $100,000.

It's a nationwide contest, so you'll be competing with others from various Patch sites around the country, but I'm confident our local homes can compete easily on the national level.

4. Or, you could win $500 to help pay your electric bill (or for whatever you'd like!).

In addition to the grand prize above, 24 finalists will win $500. That could help pay your electric bill for all those lights or go toward paying off some of those Christmas bills.

5. The entry period ends tonight (Dec. 26) at midnight.

You only have a few more hours to enter. Go to http://deckthehouse.patch.com/contest/phoenixville, select "Nominate Your House" and you're off to the races.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to win a $100,000 gift for Phoenixville area public schools.
