Update: French Creek to Rise Above Flood Stage

Additionally, a flash flood warning has been canceled.

The French Creek in Phoenixville is expected to rise above flood stage Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

At 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, the creek rose to 7.3 feet, according ot the NWS. Flood stage is 8 feet. A flood warning has been issued.

"The creek is expected to rise above flood stage shortly and remain above flood stage into the early morning hours of Thursday," according to the flood warning.

The NWS has called off a previous flash flood warning for northern central Chester County.

"The waters from the earlier heavy rains are receding and flood waters no longer pose a threat to life or property," according to an NWS update. "The flash flood warning has been canceled. However, creeks and streams are running high from earlier heavy rain."

After another soggy day and some violent early morning storms that knocked out power in parts of the Phoenixville area, more rain—and flooding—may occur.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for northern central Chester County. The warning remains in effect through 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

“Doppler radar indicated very heavy rain from an area of showers and thunderstorms over north central Chester and south central Berks counties,” the warning states. “As much as two inches of rain could fall with the showers and storms.”
