Flood Watch Issued for the Phoenixville Area

It's not likely the Schuylkill will flood, according to the National Weather Service, but creeks and streams may be affected.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the Phoenixville area for Friday morning into Saturday morning.

“Flooding is not expected along the Delaware, the Lehigh or the Schuylkill River,” the watch states. “Flooding is more probable along smaller creeks and streams and in areas of poor drainage.”

Rainfall of one to two inches an hour may occur from the pre-dawn hours through mid-afternoon Friday.

A high wind warning will also go into effect from 2 p.m. Friday until midnight. Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph will peak with 60 mph gusts.

Though the rain is expected to end by Friday evening, creeks and rivers will likely crest Saturday as runoff and snowmelt accumulates.
