Get Out: Blobfest, Bike Rodeo, Breakfast with the Queen

Find something fun to do in the Phoenixville area this weekend.

This weekend’s events are sponsored by the letter “B.”

It’s Blobfest weekend, you can check out a bike rodeo put on by Phoenixville Police and you can eat breakfast with Dogwood Queen Courtney Wieland.

OK, so there are a few Cs thrown in for good measure, too. The Chesco Pops will perform at Valley Forge Christian College, and if you’re hoping to do something to help out , consider the Cover Charge for Gabby event.

Why Go: Come enjoy a breakfast with Dogwood Queen Courtney Wieland. The Phoenixville Jaycees are hosting this event, and all proceeds go to benefit the family of Gabby Vogel, a local youngster who’s battling brain cancer.

Cost: $20 for adults, $10 for children under 12; cost includes breakfast buffet, drink and tip

Blobfest 12

Where/When: , Fri., July 8 – Sun., July 10

Why Go: In its 12th year, this fab festival celebrates the B-movie classic filmed right here in Phoenixville. Highlights Friday include The Run Out, which takes place at 9 p.m., and the Blob Ball at P.J. Ryan’s. On Saturday, stop downtown for the street fair, and on Sunday, hit up the theater at 2 p.m. for a screening of “The Blob.”

Cost: All events on the street are free; there is a cost for movies.

Bike Rodeo in Phoenixville

Where/When: Bethel Baptist Church, 412 Fairview St.; Sat., July 9, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Why Go: Teach your tots about bike safety and let them run amok in the bicycle obstacle course in this event set up by the Phoenixville Police Department. Kids can check out a police car, fire truck and ambulance, too. Check out the sign up sheet on the borough website

Cost: Free

Where/When: , Sun., July 10, 3 p.m.

Why Go: teamed up with Valley Forge Christian College to present the Chesco Pops’ “From Sea to Shining Sea: America’s Musical Bounty.” Pianist Terry Klinefelter will perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” You can get tickets at the door.

Cost: $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $5 for students, free for kids 12 and under

Where/When: Frank’s Sports Bar and Grill, 1145 Valley Forge Rd.; Sat., July 9, 9 p.m.

Why Go: The band Funk Church is performing and the $5 cover charge will be donated to the Get Well Gabby fund. Come relax and have some fun for a good cause.
