Normally, the weekend events listed here are spread throughout the Phoenixville area.

This weekend, however, a bunch of events will take place in downtown Phoenixville, so those are highlighted.

If you’re looking for family-friendly, come downtown. If you’d like to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (on Siete de Mayo), come downtown. Pet lovers will find pet-friendly events for First Friday’s Pet Stroll. Horror movie fans can check out “Maniac,” with the director on hand, at The Colonial Theatre. And everyone can enjoy the opening day of the Phoenixville Farmers’ Market, accompanied with the Spring Festival for Our Honeybees.

First Friday Pet Stroll

Where: Downtown Phoenixville, Fri., May 6, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Why Go: Some shops will offer up pet-friendly specials, and pet owners are invited to bring furry friends out for a walk around the town. Rescues will be on hand, and several businesses will offer up discounts if you bring in gently used pet accessories for donation.

Where: Taylor Alley, under the Gay Street bridge, Sat., May 7, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go: The market is in is tenth season and features many great vendors. This year’s opening day is being held with the first ever Spring Festival for Our Honeybees. If you have never been to the market before, it’s a nice way to spend a Saturday morning and you’re likely to find some delicious local goods to take home with you.

Why Go: Horror flick director William Lustig will host a Q&A on his 1980 slasher movie “Maniac” for the next installment of First Friday Fright Night. The film caused outrage and a lot of reaction when it was released.

Drinko de Mayo Pub Crawl

Where: Downtown Phoenixville, Sat., May 7, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Why Go: Six participating restaurants will host drink specials and festivities in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Why Go: Watch performances and demonstrations, learn more about this popular but suffering pollinator and find local honey and more. This is in conjunction with the opening of the Phoenixville Farmers’ Market but also includes a screening of bee-centric documentary “Queen of the Sun,” with a Q&A session with bee expert Gunther Hauk. The movie will be shown at The Colonial Theatre and starts at 2 p.m.
