Get Out: Plays, Comedy, Music, Hockey and More

There's plenty going on this weekend in and around Phoenixville.

After a sneak preview of spring-like temperatures you might’ve shaken off the cabin fever, but if you’re still craving some time out of the house, check out these local events.

Cheer on the local team at a huge hockey game, catch a play, get some laughs at a comedy night, visit a Scottish and Irish Festival or be the smartest person at your Oscar party.

Where/When: ; Friday, Feb. 18, 9 p.m.

Why Go: It’s a rubber match, as Phoenixville and Strath Haven split the two games they’ve played this season in ice hockey. The season rides on this big game, so come and cheer on the team.

Where/When: ; Feb. 19, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: Help support the fire company and enjoy roast beef sandwiches, drinks, side dishes and desserts. Several comedians will be on hand to entertain for the evening. Call the fire company for tickets.

Pricing: $25

3. Oscar-nominated Short Films at the Colonial

Where/When: ; Feb. 18 – 24, various times

Why Go: Catch animated shorts as well as live action shorts. The animated short films are appropriate for children. Watch all of them and you—not just the Academy—can decide which is best.

Pricing: $9 for adults, $6 for seniors and students with ID, $5 for members and children under 13

Where/When: Valley Forge Convention Center, Feb. 18 - 20

Why Go: It’s non-stop Irish and Scottish music and one of the sponsors is Phoenixville’s own Molly Maguire’s Restaurant and Pub. The schedule is packed solid from the 7:30 p.m. opening concert on Friday through the weekend.

Pricing: $20-$30 at the door; $18 in advance; free for children 12 and under

Where/When: Camphill Village Kimberton Hills in Rose Hall; Feb. 18 – 20, with afternoon shows and one evening show on Saturday

Why Go: Watch this Mark Twain classic performed live. It’s a musical, so you’ll hear show tunes and more.

Pricing: Suggested donation of $12 for adults, $6 for children and $35 for families
