Hospital Thrift Shop Makes Record Donation

More than $40,000 is going to help local causes

The Thrift Shop of Phoenixville Hospital donated $40,500 to ten local community organizations at the 38th annual Donation Reception held on Monday.

It is the largest donation in the thrift shop organization's history.

The Thrift Shop, at 238 Church Street, sells new and gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry, housewares and children's items.  All of the Shop's proceeds are donated back to the community through grants.

Phoenixville Hospital CEO Steve Tullman kicked off the reception with words of congratulations and thanks to the Thrift Shop volunteers. "This record-breaking donation will greatly benefit many people in our community. The work of the Thrift Shop volunteers and the organizations receiving donations should be commended."

Thrift Shop President Midge Lichert presented the recipients with their donations based on items on their grant application.

This year's recipients included:

  1. The Cancer Center at Phoenixville Hospital
  2. Mom's House
  3. HealthCare Access
  4. St. Mary's Shelter
  5. Senior Adult Activity Center
  6. The Clinic
  7. Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS)
  8. Phoenixville Community Health Foundations
  9. Phoenixville Hospital Community Health & Education Department
  10. The Daniel Foundation.

This was the first time Greg Porter of the Daniel Foundation received a grant from the Hospital Thrift Shop.  "This room is full of community heroes and I am grateful to be among you," he said during his remarks. "All of the recipient organizations and the Thrift Shop volunteers are heroes who give back each day to our community."
