Local Scouts Make 'Pilgrimage' to Valley Forge

This past weekend, over 2,000 Boy Scouts from all over the country, went to Valley Forge to participate in the 101st annual Pilgrimage of the Boy Scouts. One of the attending troops, Pack 608, hails from Audubon. Below, the boys were kind enough to share their experience.  

Did you know that the women of the revolutionary war got paid to work as camp followers?

We didn't either until we attended this past weekend's 101st annual Pilgrimage of the Boy Scouts to Valley Forge National Historic Park. The Pilgrimage is an event we look forward to every year because scouts from all over the country come together and we're able to both learn about history and spend time outdoors. This year's theme was Women of the Revolutionary War, who served our country on and off the battlefield. 

Our favorite parts of the weekend were Artillery, Rifles & Skirmish and learning that the North American Indians invented the game Lacrosse.

The Cradle of Liberty Council Boy Scouts of America hosted the annual Pilgrimage to Valley Forge, which is the longest running scouting event in the world. This event honored the soldiers of the Revolutionary War, with a weekend long camping trip, and a special day of activities that took place on Saturday. Saturday featured re-enactments, singing, and live fire demonstrations!
