Meet Delilah, Who Has a Story to Tell

This week's rescue pet had a rough life but is ready to settle in with a family.

This week’s Pet of the Week comes to us from Cat Angel Network.

They were going to write about her but Delilah took up the pen to tell her own story:

What’s a young, single mom with three young kittens to do? I was living in a cornfield with my kittens; trying desperately to keep us safe and fed.

When my kittens were old enough, I would venture a bit further in search of food. I was so hungry, giving most of what I found to my kittens.

In my search for food, I happened on a nice family who had a feral feeding station on their back porch. I was so happy to have all I could eat—I couldn’t believe my good luck! The family was so nice, they pet me very gently and talked to me so nicely.

The kind lady saw that I was a nursing mom and said to me, “Delilah, bring me your babies so I can take care of them with you.” I knew I could trust her, so I did!

My kittens are still wary of people, likely because I kept them from the world to keep them safe.  But the kind lady is working with them and teaching them what I already know—people can be trusted and it’s not so bad to have your head and chin scratched and your belly rubbed gently.

I’m searching for my forever home now. I finally will have a chance at a nice and safe life inside with toys and lots of love. I’m a quiet girl who doesn’t mind a quick cuddle now and then but I really like just sitting near by you; knowing you’re there to say hi and give me a pat from time to time.

I do love to have my head scratched and rubbed and to rub up against you to show you how happy I am to be safe inside. So, that’s my story.

It started out a bit sad but, thanks to the kind volunteers at Cat Angel Network, I think I finally have a happily ever after in the very near future.

Are you the family for me?

A note from my foster mom: Delilah is a sweet kitty without a mean bone in her body. A quiet home with older children and without dogs would best for her. She doesn’t play with toys just yet but I think in time she will. She is just so thankful to have regular meals and a warm, dry place to live; I think she’s still adjusting to her new inside life. She will be a wonderful addition to any family please consider giving her a quiet, loving home!
