Do you know of local moms raising their children in the Tiger Mother's way and is it the best way? Where can we get information on local flu shot clinics for children? How do we talk to our children about big news events? How can we help our children's schools weather their budget cutbacks?

For our first question, the Moms Council tackled this one: What kid-friendly activities/destinations do you think Phoenixville could use more of?

Here’s what local parents had to say:

“As for activities/destinations, I’d like to see more community sponsored park days. We usually go to the park across from the library. There aren’t always kids, especially Hudson’s age. If there could be something coordinated (maybe through Phoenixville Patch!) of park get-togethers for different age groups that would be great! Then I could take the little one in the summer and know he’ll have a few kids his age to play with.” Erin Thomas, Phoenixville, mom of 15-month-old Hudson

“We moved here from out of state six months ago, so I come at all this from a newcomer's angle. I'd love to see more music and arts classes for younger children—although if these things already exist in town, I'd love to find out more.” Jessica Whelan, East Pikeland, mom of two

“[Six-year-old] Owen suggests a ‘big statue of a Phoenix, you know, for kids to look at!’ I would love a bike path!” Brendan Tracy, dad of one

“I think Phoenixville could definitely use more parks (although I know that's a long term idea)!  I'd also love to see some kid-focused stores on Bridge St.  We've seen many businesses come and go the past two years we've lived here, but hopefully a kid-focused store would succeed.  After all, Phoenixville is know as ‘Babytown’ since there are so many new parents living here!” Kathryn Martin, Phoenixville, mom of baby Henry
