Philly Mag Pans Phoenixville Pizza Places

A couple made it out relatively unscathed, but others received bad reviews.

The recently released “50 Best Pizza Places in Philly” list, assembled by Philadelphia Magazine, leaves out any offerings along the Route 422 corridor.

In fact, in the reviews section, some Phoenixville shops were given unflattering reviews.

The magazine calls the crust at Valley Forge Ristorante and Pizzeria “dense and lifeless,” referring to the pizza place itself as a “mutt take-out pizzeria/fancy sit-down Italian restaurant.”

Reviewers praised the pies at Bella Napoli in Kimberton, calling the slices “textbook” examples of New York-style pizza and recommending the buffalo chicken pizza at Bella Napoli.

Sal’s Pizza Box received praise for crust and sauce, but was called a “basic neighborhood pizza place that suffers from inconsistency in execution.”

Finally, T.D. Alfredo’s, the last of the four Phoenixville pizza shops reviewed by the publication, was lauded for its wallet-friendly pies, with the review stating the pizzeria serves up “good party pizza for when you need to feed an undiscerning crowd on a budget.”

As mentioned above, none of the local spots garnered a place on the Top 50 list.
