Sandy Strikes: Power Outage in Phoenixville

A PECO rep said the utility will probably have crews in the borough Tuesday morning.

While the borough’s electricity held up against Sandy longer than most, late Monday night as many as 1,500 Phoenixville residents were among the 34,000 who lost power in Chester County.

And it might be some time before it returns.

PECO representative Karen Geus told Patch that, owing to the high winds, it will be tomorrow at the earliest before the utility can even get service personnel to town to evaluate the outage, much less repair it.

“Winds are too high right now to send crews out,” Geus said. “Probably when the winds die down tomorrow morning we’ll have a chance to get out and assess the situation.”

Geus added that its unlikely the outage will resolve itself without the intervention of PECO technicians.
