Surgeon Joins Phoenixville Hospital Staff

Golfers, tennis enthusiasts, student athletes could end up turning to him.

Phoenixville Hospital is adding a new member to its surgical staff.  Orthopaedic Surgeon Brett R. Horwitz,has joined the hospital's the Medical Staff and the practice of Valley Forge Orthopaedics.

According to information provided by the hospital, Horwitz is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He specializes in sports-related injuries, arthroscopic knee and shoulder reconstruction as well as total joint replacement surgery.

In addition to being a Philadelphia native, Dr. Horwitz is a President’s Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Temple University.  He earned his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine, where he did his internship.

Dr. Horwitz completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital. He received post graduate fellowship training in sports medicine at The Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Horwitz is a recipient of the Charles Neer Award in shoulder surgery presented by the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He has served as professional sports consultant and physician for the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA Tour), the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP Tour) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA Tour), and is a member of many national and local professional medical societies.

Before going to Phoenixville Hospital and Valley Forge Orthopaedics, Dr. Horwitz was in private practice in Montgomery County since 1991.

According to a hospital press release, "Dr. Horwitz offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all musculoskeletal conditions, including arthroscopic and open surgical reconstruction of the upper and lower extremities. He is now available to see patients at three locations in our community: Phoenixville, Collegeville and Norristown. Dr. Horwitz is accepting new patients and most major insurance plans are accepted.
