Sweet Idea! Phoenixville Man Wins Candy Company's Billboard Contest

Goldenberg's Peanut Chews wanted a Philly-centric slogan. Andrew Arbitell gave them one.

Andrew Arbitell is an advertising major at Temple University. Seems the kid's got a knack for it.

Last week, Goldenberg's Peanut Chews announced that the 20-year-old Phoenixville native was the winner of its first ever billboard contest. In the contest, fans of the classic candy were invited to submit Philly-centric slogans of ten words or fewer for a Goldenberg's billboard.

Arbitell's winning entry paid homage to the city's favorite (fictional) athlete.

“Enjoyed when the Rocky steps were just steps.”

The winning tagline is emblazoned on a billboard along I-95 near the Goldenberg's factory, where it will remain through April 28.

Arbitell said the candy company wanted a slogan that celebrated Philadelphia's heritage, and he figured you can't get more Philly than Rocky Balboa.

“Rocky is an iconic Philadelphia figure,” the student said in a press release. “I thought the steps were such a big part of Philadelphia’s culture and history that I had to write something based on them.”

In addition to the honor of seeing his slogan on billboard, Arbitell will get a chance to meet another beloved Philadelphia athlete...a real one. Arbitell will receive a year’s supply of of the peanut chews that will be delivered, to his door, by former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski.
