This building was a bar in Mont Clare. I think it was called Al's by the canal. It's across the street from Produce Junction.

It was called Tavios. My late husband and I used to shoot pool there. Ah, the memories.

I think Maureen has it right. The Produce Junction sign, which is right next to Rt 29 gives it away. The former Tavio's is to the left in the photograph. Way to go Maureen!

It was 1997...what a pain it was to get from Mont Clare to Phoenixville during the construction!

Agreed! Is the the demolition site of the former Phoenixville-Mont Clare Bridge.....looking toward the former Tavio's by the Sea (left), the former Mont Clare post office (center), and the current site of Produce Junction (right). How lucky we are to have a brand new bridge!

This is indeed a pic. of the demolished Mont Clare/Phoenixville bridge. Originally the bridge was an old long "covered bridge" in the early 1900's. The tavern on the left was known as Al's by the Sea in the early 50's. Later it was Tavio's Tavern. It was closed for many years after that. Then went thru several owners, the last one's ran it into the ground. Drug activity, underage sales etc.It is a good spot for a deck type restaurant and tavern with a deck on the canal, if they can keep the canal clean and algae free, good luck with that. The place now known as Produce Junction, a traffic nitemare was once the Mont Clare Market, a family owned sub-super market again in the 50's. If the "no left turn" signs going in to P/J from 29 s. and from the lot to 29 s were obeyed ENFORCED.......the traffic nitemare would be greatly improved, but they are not enforced.....
