Viewfinder: Photos from the 60th Annual Dogwood Festival

Tonight is the second of two family nights, and Saturday's parade begins at 1 p.m.

Yes, it's dreary. But that's a wee bit expected for the week of the Dogwood Festival, according to those who've been in town for quite a few of them.

The threat of rain wasn't enough to keep people away from Reeves Park on Monday evening, when the rides started up for the week. Monday was the first of two Family Nights, with the second on Wednesday evening.

On Family Nights, attendees can score a wristband for the rides for $20. A magician duo will also perform tonight, and the prince and princess of the festival will be crowned Wednesday.

For Saturday's parade, the route is laid out and will begin at Franklin Commons, at Franklin and Grant streets. Then, the parade will head over the Gay Street high bridge and down the 200 block of Bridge Street, turning at Main Street and heading up to the park.

If you're planning on passing through the borough between 1 p.m., when the parade kicks off Saturday, and 3 p.m., you might want to seek out another route (or pull up a chair and watch the parade).

Former Dogwood Queens will be in the parade, which will feature this year's Dogwood Queen, Courtney Wieland. Music acts performing in the Dogwood Parade include Irish Thunder, Reilly Raiders, Hegeman’s String Band, the Woodland String Band, the Polish-American String Band, the Phoenixville Area School District High School Marching Band, Phoenixville Area School District Middle School Marching Band and others. The Chinese American Community Center Folk Dance Troupe will also take part in the parade for the first time, according to a press release.

If you've never been to the parade and plan on watching, make sure you hit up the route early. Parade-goers tend to be pretty on the ball when it comes to reserving real estate along the parade's path.
