Who's Running in Phoenixville: Candidates

Phoenixville voters will select a new mayor, members of the Borough Council and members of the Phoenixville Area School District Board.

Here's who is on the ballot:

Phoenixville Mayor:


Mayor Leo Scoda's term limit has been reached and he will be stepping down. That means the seat is open and the Borough will be getting a new mayor. 

The candidate are:

Ken Buckwalter (R) The former Borough Council member details his vision for the job and lists his political endorsements here on his campaign website.

Michael J. Speck (D) Another familiar face in local politics. Speck currently serves in elected office as Vice President of the Borough Council.  Read more about Speck here on his campaign's facebook page

Phoenixville Borough Council

North Ward: 

John Ichter (R) is 31, moved to the Borough and currently serves the Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) and is the President of Northridge Village Homeowner’s Association. 

Edwin Soto (D) is 33, is the secretary of the Phoenixville Democratic Committee. He moved to the Borough 7 years ago and volunteers for several organizations including the Peace Advocacy Group

Middle Ward

Mike Kuzner (R) 
describes himself this way on his Patch Blog: "I am a small business owner with about four employees that resides in the Middle Ward of Phoenixville. I sit on the Phoenixville Planning Commission, Phoenixville Zoning Committee, previously the Phoenixville redistricting committee and an active member of the Phoenixville Town Watch program 

Kyle Guie (D) 28, served on council from January to June of 2012  before leaving for a brief move to Lancaster County. He is also an active Patch contributor and commenter.

East Ward:

Jeremy Dalton (D) is running uncontested for the seat being vacated by Dave Gautreau

West Ward:

Dana Dugan (D) is running unopposed for the seat she has held since 2010.
