In Florida, A Turf War Blooms Over Front-Yard Vegetable Gardening
Miami Shores
You can plant fruit, you can have flowers, you can adorn your property with pink flamingos — but you cannot have vegetables,". "That is almost the definition of irrationality."
Last year, the city of Orlando was involved in a similar dispute with a home gardener there. After months of coverage that generated protests from gardeners around the country, Orlando relented. It's now to allow vegetable gardens even in the front yard.
There are property rights, so why a municilply would want to ban growing vegetables is a mystery. ....Is Monsanto afraid of the competition ;- )....
These ridicules restrictions popping up all over America are scary:
A Texas SWAT team raided an organic farm, allegedly searching for marijuana. After conducting a 10-hour raid, destroying many of the plants and vegetables in the process, police failed to find any drug evidence
When the SWAT team arrived at the farm, the six adults who live there were held at gunpoint and handcuffed. For 10 hours, SWAT officers searched the property, destroying parts of the farm in the process
The police seized and destroyed 17 blackberry bushes, 15 okra plants, 14 tomatillo plants and sunflowers. When police looked at surveillance photos of the farm, they mistakenly identified tomato plants as marijuana plants. There they go again with Tomatoes . Did they take seriously the movie "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"?
Seriously folks America is becoming a police state. What with NSA spying on us, swat teams ripping up organic farms, FDA dumping organic milk, Monsanto poisoning our food and killing bees, which are needed for pollination
