August 10 is S'mores day! Good old s'mores made usually around a campfire is an icon of summertime. It's a combination of graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows. The marshmallows are usually toasted on a stick from the heat of the fire.
Alec Barnum is the originator of the s'more. He put the recipe in his book titled Trampling and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. The year was 1927.
Many people love their s'mores. There are several ways to add your own flare to the treat. Many add peanut butter on the graham cracker with the chocolate and marshmallows. One can also add fruit like bananas or strawberries! Feel free to be creative.
