What Should I Do With My Money?

Quick introduction, what I want to blog about and why you should care.

Hello, everyone. I am excited to start contributing to the Patch website and thought it may be beneficial or useful for someone to provide thoughts and commentary on managing your money.

I have a background in the financial services arena and specifically in building asset allocation portfolios. I do not fancy myself as smarter than the market or possess any inside knowledge or great fast money making stock tips.

What I believe I can offer to you is easy to understand commentary and a view point on the markets to what you should be aware and thinking about as an investor. Despite your political views, capital/free market beliefs and investing acumen, what happens around the world on a daily basis can affect you as an investor achieving your financial goals and objectives.

Avoiding the many pitfalls—greed and fear being the primary ones—and not reacting on every news item will impact your long-term success more so than deciding whether to buy Home Depot vs. Lowes.

When I talk to others and mention my current job and focus, the proverbial question I receive is, “so what should I do with my money?” Great question and although everyone is looking for the answer to be somewhere in between, “buy gold” or “10,000 shares of Apple," the true answer is “It depends." And what it depends on is your time horizon and measurement of success.

Without knowing your personal financial situation, tolerance of risk and goals/objectives, it would be hard to provide concrete advice on what you should do. However, I want to use this blog as an avenue to at least offer one local man’s opinions, thoughts and view of the world from an investment perspective. I hope you find it informative, entertaining and a worthwhile read.  Over time, if you have suggestions on future topics or just general commentary and feedback, I welcome the dialogue.

Thanks and talk to you again soon.
