What Should Council do With the Old Borough Property

Now that the former borough municipal building is vacated, I am sure council is wondering what to do with the property.

I would like to propose the following for council’s consideration; tear down the existing building and utilize the property for additional parking. This would help the residents on Church St., Hall St., Dean St., Jackson St., and Walnut St., utilize additional much need parking. Not only would those residents benefit but so would the Senior Center.

During my tenure on council when we were planning the new municipal complex, the monetary value from the sale of the property was not factored into the financing of the new complex. So any revenue from the sale could be used as council saw fit. My recollection was the appraised value was in the mid six figures. How much they could get today is anybody’s guess.
