WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE MAYOR, KEN?

That was the prevailing question friends and family asked me when I was exploring a run for the office of Mayor. The simple answer was “I love Phoenixville.” It’s in my DNA. My earliest ancestor, Francis Buckwalter, settled in Phoenixville in 1717 and lived out his life here.

Over half my life I have lived here. I raised my family here. Of that time, 16 years have been spent in public service to the residents of the Borough; six years on the Zoning Hearing Board and ten years as a Councilman.

At the start of my tenure on Council in 2002, Phoenixville was looked upon as a brownfield, and a washed-up steel town. Today there is a thriving downtown Arts and Entertainment district that rivals any in Chester County and the surrounds. I and seven others on Council made it happen. And Phoenixville has so much more potential and as Mayor I want to continue to lead Phoenixville to even greater heights.
