Pruning after the storm(s)

Rough winter....but not as severe for us as for trees and shrubs.  If you are looking at a disaster in the flowering shrubs and fruit bearing trees and bushes just follow the usual rules for severe pruning....cut the breaks clean, and put your favorite 'goo' on the wound.  Beware!!!  The sun is rising in the sky, so these plants will be waking up soon and you want to get into the task quickly.  I would not worry about shape this year -- wait until next fall.
For your perennials I hope they were tucked into mulch this fall, and this might be a good year to prune back grapes or berries more than normal.
