Decorated Local Vet Dies at 61

He received two purple hearts, bronze star and a national defense medal.

Francis X. "Frankie Love" Markey, Jr., 61, of Spring City, PA, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Mary (Lenardo) Markey of Lansdale, PA, and the late Francis X. Markey, Sr.

He served in combat in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War, and he received two purple hearts, bronze star and a national defense medal.

He was a mason who specialized in concrete work and also worked at Smurfitt Stone in Mont Clare, PA.

He was a member of the Santa Anna Italian American Club in Phoenixville.

He loved fishing and was a die-hard Eagles fan.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Lindsey Markey, son, Francis Markey "Frankie Love Jr.", grandson, Aiden Francis Markey, sister, Donna Marie and husband David Newmiller, brother, Sean and wife Jodi Markey and his former wife, LaRay Cornelison.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Markey.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm.

Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
