Betty Ballantine, 84

Betty A. (Quay) Ballantine, 84, of Kimberton and Pottstown, PA, died on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 in Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Upper Providence, PA. 

She was the wife of the late Robert D. Ballantine, who died earlier that day.

Born in Chester Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Miles) Quay.

Betty was a graduate of Downingtown High School, class of 1945.

She was a longtime member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Chester Springs, PA, and a member of the Kimberton Grange.

She loved to crochet and embroider.

Surviving are daughter, B. Roberta Tetzlaff of Muskegon, MI; son, Ronald Ballantine of Smyrna, DE; son, Bruce Ballantine of Millsboro, DE; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Quay of Phoenixville, PA.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Russell, Sam, Olive, Jennie and Effie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at 12 p.m.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ Cemetery, Chester Springs, PA.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Horizon Hospice, 255 Corporate Drive, Dresher, PA 19025.

Lois Fitzmaurice, 74

Lois H. (Kulzer) Fitzmaurice, 74, of Charlestown, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011.

Born in Bryn Mawr, she was a daughter of the late Julius G. and Dorothea B. (Olbrich) Kulzer. 

Lois was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and Centinary College. She was employed as office manager at MSI Precision in Phoenixville. 

She was an avid sports fan, especially of all Philadelphia teams and enjoyed time at her shore home in Ocean City, NJ.  Most importantly, she enjoyed her eight grandchildren. 

Mrs. Fitzmaurice is survived by her daughters, Julie R., wife of Donald Seavey of Charlestown and Jill A., wife of Eric R. Page of Phoenixville; sons, Craig R. Cheesman of Epsom, NH and Curt R., husband of Kristen Cheesman of Lafayette, CO; sister, Margaret Callahan of West Chester; eight grandchildren, Andrew Cheesman, Kiel Cheesman, Daniel Seavey, Stephanie Seavey, Cassidy Cheesman, Morgan Page, Tyler Page, and Sydney Cheesman; and the father of her children, John R. Cheesman.  

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Dana Cheesman, and sister, Dorothy Joan Jackson. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Carroll officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Washington Memorial Chapel Churchyard, Valley Forge. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Robert Ballantine, 84

Robert D. Ballantine, 84, of Kimberton and Pottstown, PA, died on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 in Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Upper Providence, PA. 

He was married to Betty A. (Quay) Ballantine in 1947.

He was the son of the late Samuel and Maryann (Lapp) Ballantine.

Robert worked for Kimberton Farms and also worked at Maugers Hardware Store in Kimberton.

He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ in Chester Springs, PA, a member of Kimberton Grange and Kimberton Fire Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, B. Roberta Tetzlaff of Muskegon, MI; son, Ronald Ballantine of Smyrna, DE; son, Bruce Ballantine of Millsboro, DE; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Dawson of Downingtown, PA.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters George, Harvey, Blanche, Donald and Margaret.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in St. Peter's Pikeland United Church of Christ, 1193 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011 at 12 p.m.

Myrtle Baxter, 82

Myrtle L. (Mashman) Baxter, 82, wife of Charles T. Baxter, of Chester Springs, PA, died on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.

Born in Port Providence, PA she was the daughter of the late G. Harold and Elsie (Force) Mashman.

Myrtle worked for Dettra Flag Company in Oaks, PA.

Surviving in addition to her husband are son Wilson Cooper and wife Sandra of Royersford, PA; son Edward Cooper and wife Barbara of Ohio; son Bruce Cooper of Phoenixville, PA; daughter Tina Garner of Kinzer, PA; 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret Miller of Virginia, Elsie Koffroth of Ohio, Josephine Young of Phoenixville, Wilma Smith of Phoenixville and Carole Kehr of State College.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, C. Richard Mashman and Harold Mashman.

A viewing will be held in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 517 S. Main St. at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.

Michael Tevis, 77

Michael P. Tevis, 77, husband of Eileen (Murray) Tevis, of Royersford, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011.

Born in Phoenixville, PA he was the son of the late Michael T. and Susan (Meklos) Tevis.

Mr. Tevis served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He worked for 38 years at Cromby Generating Station, Phoenixville, retiring as shift superintendent.

Mr. Tevis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Royersford.

He was a pilot and loved to fly airplanes out of Limerick Airport. Mr. Tevis belonged to several model airplane clubs. He enjoyed golf and played guitar in several local bands.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Brian M., husband of Sherri Tevis of East Coventry; Kevin J. Tevis of Spring City; daughter Michelle T. Wilson of Spring City; six grandchildren: Justin, Kyle, Sean, Scott, Sarah and Matthew;
one great-grandson Alec; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers John, Joseph, Steven and Thomas Tevis and Michael Drevyanko; and three sisters, Mary DeCarlo, Ann Skerda and Anna Borysowski.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 from Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 517 S. Main St., Phoenixville.

Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Phoenixville.

There will be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
