Annette Marlin, 88

Annette M. (Forbes) Marlin, 88, wife of the late Francis C. Marlin, of Wayne, PA, died on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 in Devon Manor.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Hickey) Forbes.

Annette worked for the family owned business, Smyth Tapes Inc. in Philadelphia, PA.

She was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church and a former member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Berwyn, PA.

Surviving are daughters Nancy Kane Marlin of Wayne, PA, and Mary Mullen of Collegeville, PA; five grandchildren, Trish Rittenbaugh, Katie Pearson, Brian Kane, Meghan Kane and Matthew Kane; and five great-grandchildren, Haley Rittenbaugh, Maya Rittenbaugh, Alyssa Pearson, Jacob Francis Pearson and Chase Kane.

She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Joseph, James, Mary and Theresa.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church with the Rev. William A. Trader officiating.

Burial will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

A viewing will be held on Saturday in the church from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

James Wright, 89

James G. Wright, 89, of Audubon, PA, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Royersford, PA.  

He was born in Boston to Mrs. Lilly Wright and Mr. William Wright Sr.

Mr. Wright lived in Daytona Beach, FL, for 25 years prior to moving back to the Audubon area in 2005. He was a contracts specialist for the General Electric Company for 37 years, retiring in 1984.  

Prior to joining General Electric, he obtained a bachelor's degree in business from Tufts University. During his tenure at General Electric, Mr. Wright was a member of the Elfun Society.

Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Navy serving two years as a Navy pilot. 

In addition to his beloved wife, Virginia Ruth Wright, he is also survived by his two sons, Paul Wright of Jeffersonville, PA, and Donald Wright, husband of Nancy Hollett of Bogart, GA; his two daughters, Karen, wife of George Dice of Phoenixville, PA, and Martha, wife of Norman McDowell of Warrington, PA; his grandchildren, Alyson, Jason and Jack Trevor Wright, Elliot and Brittany Dice, and Nicholas and Mellissa Levinsky; niece Linda Fisk; nephew Thomas Fisk and four wonderful great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, with the Rev. James R. Roth officiating.  

Inurnment will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Douglas Arnold-Hess Jr., 26

Douglas S. Arnold-Hess, Jr., 26, husband of Devon L. Hess, of Birdsboro, PA, formerly of Schwenksville, passed suddenly on Friday, Jan. 13, 2012.  

Born in Lansdale, PA, he was a son Stephanie (Sluzenski) Davis and Douglas S. Arnold, Sr, husband of Amy L. Glace-Arnold.  

He was a graduate of the Perkiomen Valley High School. Mr. Arnold-Hess served for the Army National Guard in Iraq. He enjoyed the outdoors, video games, and spending time with his daughter and step-son. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Arnold-Hess is survived by daughter Karma Rayne Hess, step-son Damien K. Marlatt, sister Tamara L. "Tammy" Arnold of New Hanover Township, half-brother Jacob D. Arnold, half-sister Kaitlyn E. Arnold of Chalfont and nephew Tyler Kilgallon.

He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Marley Hess.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Cattermole – Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, PA on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 at 5 p.m.  

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gerald Marshall, 69

Gerald D. Marshall, 69, husband of Rebecca T. "Becky" (Sartory) Marshall, of Gilbertsville, PA, formerly of Norristown, PA died suddenly of natural causes while vacationing in Florida.  Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Rose Marshall.  Mr. Marshall was a 1960 graduate of the Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown.  He worked as a penitentiary probation and parole officer for over 42 years at the Graterford and Allentown Prisons. 

 In addition to his wife of 45 years, Mr. Marshall is survived by three children:  Gregory D. Marshall, of Royersford, Patrick M., husband of Christina (Gordon) Marshall, of Gilbertsville, PA, Cortney L. Marshall, of Barto, and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the New Hanover United Methodist Church, 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525 on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at 3 p.m. The Rev. David Lewis will officiate.  

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Grace Detwiler, 100

Grace M. (Oberholser) Detwiler, 100, of New Holland and formerly of Phoenixville, PA died on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 in Garden Spot Village, New Holland, PA. She was the wife of the late Ralph A. Detwiler. 

Born in Martins Corner, Chester County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Christian Brinton and Hanna Elizabeth (Seldomridge) Oberholser.

Grace was a graduate of Coatesville High School, Class of 1928.

Known by those who loved her as “Birdie”, Mother, Grace, Grammie and Great Grammie, she was a woman of unwavering principles and determination whose talents and skills were many. In addition to a devoted wife and mother, she was sole bookkeeper and office manager for the growing family trucking business and eventually went on to launch her own venture—The Coach Antique Shop located on Pothouse Road in Phoenixville, which she operated for 25 years.

Always generous with her time and resources, she made sure that those in her community and family were well taken care of. Whatever the need, a helping hand, a home cooked meal, even a prized antique that could find a good home, she gave freely and from the heart.

Guided by faith and a strong sense of values, honed by a life of hard work on her family’s farm and beyond, she imparted her wisdom to three generations who will forever be in her debt.

Beyond these qualities, her joys in life were gardening, antiques and anything in the color red!

Surviving are step-son Donald R. Detwiler and wife Shirley of Phoenixville, PA; son, Jonathan B. Detwiler and wife Gloria of Valley Forge, PA; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Sarah, Louisa Pearl, Fredrick, Elizabeth, and Brinton as well as her great-grandson Daniel Detwiler.

She was a member of Pequea Baptist Church in Gap, PA.

Frederick Bainbridge, 69

Frederick L. Bainbridge, 69, husband of Jill Bainbridge of Florida, formerly of Royersford, died Jan. 14, 2012 in the Good Shepherd Hospice of Palm Terrace, Florida. 

Funeral services and entombment will be held privately in the Good Shepherd Chapel and Mausoleum at the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA.

Mary Lou Amole, 69

Mary Lou (Nemetz) Amole was born on June 10, 1942 in Elmira, NY died on Jan. 17, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. 

Born in Elmira, NY she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary Alice (Malone) Raplee.

Mary Lou was a nurse and veteran of the Vietnam War and a Bronze Star recipient. She was an active volunteer through the Phoenixville VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion and Mom’s House and a member of Sacred Heart Church.

She attended Notre Dame High School and St. Joseph’s nursing school, both in Elmira, NY. 

She was a long-time employee of Valley Forge Ear, Nose and Throat in Phoenixville, PA.

Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband Barry; her two children Allison Nemetz of Chicago, IL and Scott Nemetz of Chanhassen, MN; her four step-children, Dennis Amole, husband of Christine, John Amole, husband of Tasha, Shannon Dusko, wife of Joe and Cliff Amole and Rachel Coakley; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Jack, Joey, Andrew and Ryan; and her brother Bill Raplee of Pine City, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp and Gatcha Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 517 S. Main St. at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Donato Silveri officating.

Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Spring City, PA.

A viewing will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday evening, Jan. 19, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Marian Carns, 89

Marian (Ulmer) Carns, 89, wife of the late Robert F. Carns, of Phoenixville, PA, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, 2012 in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Upper Providence Township, PA.  

Born in Port Providence, PA, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Rena (Zaun) Ulmer. She attended school in Mont Clare and was a 1941 graduate of the Phoenixville High School. She was a school teacher for the Phoenixville School District for over 25 years.  

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville, where she also taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Club and the Phoenixville Senior Center. 

Mrs. Carns is survived by two daughters, Anita Ullom of Blandon, PA, and Rita Connors of Quarryville; two sons, Gary Carns of Royersford and Richard Carns, of Phoenixville; one sister, Edith Miller of Columbia, MD; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  

Mrs. Carns was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Phillips and Helen Raser, and three brothers, Harvey Ulmer, Nevin Ulmer and Milward Ulmer. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville, 865 South Main St., Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Friday morning, Jan. 20, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Amy C. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Providence Mennonite Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.

Anna Taglianetti, 93

Anna (Torrieri) Taglianetti, 93, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of Limerick, PA, died early Monday morning, Jan. 16, 2012 in the Golden Living Center, Phoenixville, PA.  

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Maggiorina (Negro) Torrieri. She attended school in Italy. Mrs. Taglianetti was a seamstress by trade, but also enjoyed helping her family and friends with their sewing and babysitting needs.  

Mrs. Taglianetti is survived by two daughters, Anna Maria, wife of the late Frank R. Wilson Jr. of Schwenksville and Lucia, wife of Leonard Szymanik of North Carolina; one sister, Sr. Mary Rachel, IHM, of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Taglianetti was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Peter Torrieri.
