James Greco, 66

James G. Greco, age 66, of Phoenixville, PA, died suddenly of natural causes while hunting in Sullivan County on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011.  

Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late James J. and Rose (Carneavale) Greco.

Mr. Greco was a graduate of the Norristown High School. He retired last year after working for over 48 years at Aramark in Philadelphia. He was a member of the St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Phoenixville.  

Mr. Greco was also a member of the Ferko String Band in Philadelphia, the Norristown Bocce Club, The Norristown Maenner-Chor Club, The Hemlock Haven Hunting Club in Sullivan County, and a life member of the Montgomery Hose and Fire Company in Norristown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making his own homemade wine.

Mr. Greco is survived by three children, Lisa M. Greco of Royersford; James A., husband of Rebecca (Lockard) Greco, of Limerick, PA; Anthony M., husband of Dana (Collins) Greco, of Norristown; one brother, Richard A., husband of Lucille (Venezia) Greco, of Norristown; seven grandchildren, Rachael, Victoria, Jimmy, Jeffrey, Steffani, Shawn, Ashley; one great-grandson, Anthony "Nino" Greco, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the St. Ann's R.C. Chapel, 604 South Main St., Phoenixville, on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. The Rev. John J. Newns will officiate.  

Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, East Norriton, PA. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the Campbell–Ennis–Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the "James G. Greco Memorial Fund", C/O National Penn Bank, 702 South Main St., Phoenixville, PA 19460.

Barbara Koniewicz, 89

Barbara A. Koniewicz, formerly of Norristown, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe at age 89.

She was the widow of John R. Koniewicz.

She was born in Norristown to the late Warren A. and Eva M. (Harris) Seitz. Barbara was a graduate of A.D. Eisenhower High School, Norristown, and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters Sandra L., wife of George Pierce of Royersford, Margaret “Peggy,” wife of Timothy Dwyer of Collegeville and Janet K., wife of Mark Thompson of Limerick; grandchildren Robert J. Pierce, Susan P. Ramondo, Megan D. Ryan, Jennifer L. Kalavik, Matthew T. Dwyer and Kelly J. Thompson; great-grandchildren Addison E. Ramondo, Eve O. Ryan, Keira L. Ramondo and Adele G. Ryan.

Her memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, PA. The Rev. Paul H. Neff will officiate.  

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling time is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Albert Dvorak, 86

Albert A. Dvorak, 86, former mayor of Phoenixville, passed away on Oct. 16, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband to Marie (Hritz) Dvorak, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 9, 2011. 

Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Nemec) Dvorak.

He graduated from Phoenixville Area High School and earned his Master’s Equivalency from Temple University. He served in the US Marine Corp., stationed at El Toro Marine Air Base in Orange County, CA, and Miramar Marine Air Corp. Station in San Diego. He also served aboard the USS Palau as an aircraft electrical technician, and was a member of the PA National Guard. 

Mr. Dvorak was self-employed as an electrical contractor for many years. He was later employed as an electrical technology instructor at the former Northern Chester County Technical School (now CAT Pickering) in Charlestown Township. 

He was a member of Phoenixville Borough Council from 1972 to 1976, and was elected mayor in 1977 and served until 1981. 

He was a past vice president of the Phoenixville Area Athletic Association (formerly the Old Timers Association) and a former Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough of Phoenixville. He was a member of VFW, Post #1564 and Knights of Columbus, Council #1374. 

Upon his retirement, Mr. Dvorak acquired his real estate license. He was an avid golfer, which led him to a part-time position as a ranger/starter at the Linfield National Golf Course. He also served as an assistant at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc. in Phoenixville. 

In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children, David; Diane, wife of Terry Duncan; Edward, husband of Sandra; Joanie, wife of Barry Reiter; Daniel, husband of Marlene; and daughter-in-law, Ginny Dvorak. Also, there are eight grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, Ashley, Devin, Ryan, Nicole, Lauren and Ellen, and one great-granddaughter, Emma Jane.

He was preceded in death by brothers John, Anton and Joseph and sisters Mary Cesanek and Margaret Carney. 

At his request, funeral services and interment are private.

Francis Ryan, 71

Francis T. Ryan, 71, husband of Mary Ellen (Brennan) Ryan of Phoenixville, passed away on Friday evening, Oct. 14, 2011, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  

Born in Minersville, he was the son of the late Patrick and Jennie (Yannacone) Ryan. 

Mr. Ryan was most recently employed as the labor relations manager for United Parcel Service in Philadelphia.  

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and an avid Philadelphia sports fan. A devoted family man, he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Mr. Ryan is survived by his children Janet M. Ryan of Phoenixville and Kevin, husband of Andrea Ryan, of Glen Rock, NJ; two grandchildren, Charlie and Sadie Ryan; two sisters, Barbara O’Brien of Norristown and Patricia Umberger of Reading; and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Dayton and St. Mary’s streets, Phoenixville, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. The Rev. John P. Hutter will officiate.  

Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening and from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mr. Ryan’s name to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, Lockbox #1352, P.O. Box 8500, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352.

Mario D'Ercole, 62

Mario P. D’Ercole, 62, husband of Sandra M. (Records) D’Ercole, of Phoenixville, passed away on Thursday evening, Oct. 13, 2011, in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  

Born in Chieti, Italy, he was a son of Silvino D’Ercole of Overbrook Park and the late Felicia (Giacomucci) D’Ercole. A Purple Heart recipient, Mr. D’Ercole served as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  

He was an active member of St. Ann Parish where he served as an usher. He enjoyed watching the History and Military channels. 

Most importantly, Mario was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion carried through his hard work, as he was employed for over 30 years at BMW of the Main Line. 

In addition to his father and loving wife of 33 years, Mr. D’Ercole is survived by three sons, Silvio P., husband of Sadie D’Ercole; Eric J. D’Ercole; and John J. D’Ercole, all of Phoenixville; grandson Gavin D’Ercole; sisters, Patricia D’Ercole of Overbrook Park and Sue Reaka of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Alfonso D’Ercole of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his funeral mass on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, in the St. Ann Church, Main Street at Third Avenue, Phoenixville, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John J. Newns officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken. Friends will be received from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Main Street at Fifth Avenue and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the church.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mario’s name to the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania Patient Fund, c/o Denney DuPont, 3400 Spruce St., 1 Founders Building, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
