Obituary: Harold L. Burmeister Jr., 90

Mr. Burmeister was a civil engineer who designed bridges and transportation structures in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and other areas across the country.

Harold L. Burmeister Jr., 90, husband of the late Janet M. (Young) Burmeister, of Valley Forge, Pa., died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at home.

Born in Ashland, Pa., he was the son of the late Harold L. and Ethel (Hoffman) Burmeister.

Harold served as an Ensign in the United States Navy Seabees. He was promoted to Lieutenant in the Civil Engineering Corps and served as a Reserve Officer in the United States Navy.

A civil engineer, he designed bridges and transportation structures in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and other areas across the country.

Surviving are his daughter, Dr. Karen L. Burmeister wife of Dr. Carroll Diebold of Mililani, HI; a son, Steven G., and wife Beth Burmeister of Clifton, VA; and two grandsons, David Diebold and Michael Diebold.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Burmeister.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Funeral service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main St. at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Valley Forge Baptist Cemetery, Valley Forge, Pa.

Relatives and Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10 to 11 a.m.
