Phoenixville Musician Dies at 62, Played with Sinatra
Funeral is planned for next week in Phoenixville
Charles “Barry” Simmons, age 62, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly of St. Peter’s, PA died Friday morning, November 1, 2013 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in West Chester, PA, he was a son of the late Olen H., and Thelma G. (Forrester) Jefferis. Mr. Simmons was a graduate of the Henderson High School in West Chester. He was an accomplished bass player. He was a member of the house band at the Sands Casino and played for many musicians over the years including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Barbara Streisand. In later years Mr. Simmons worked as a journeyman tool and dye maker.
Mr. Simmons is survived by three brothers: Olen H., husband of Patricia Simmons, of Coatesville, PA; Ernest H., husband of Tove Simmons, of West Chester, PA; Jeffrey F., husband of Louise Simmons, of Phoenixville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Simmons was pre-deceased by one sister: Linda L. Falcone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Campbell–Ennis–Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Wednesday morning, November 6th, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Lamar C. Eifert. Burial will be in the Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Knauertown, PA. Friends will be received from 9:00 – 10:00 AM Wednesday
