Martha Virginia "Ginny" Miskiewicz

Martha Virginia “Ginny” (Sissler) Miskiewicz, 82, wife of the late Michael Miskiewicz Jr., of East Coventry, formerly East Pikeland, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, in Phoenixville Hospital.  

Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Donald Sissler and Viola (Horcher) Redman.

Mrs. Miskiewicz was a member of Centennial Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kimberton. She enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Sharon V., wife of John Gerhart of Phoenixville and Jane A., wife of Raymond Kramer Jr. of Phoenixville; two sons: David N., husband of Kimberly Miskiewicz, of North Carolina and Donald K. Miskiewicz, of Norristown; seven grandchildren: Nicole Uba, Michael and Ashley Kramer, Kathy Gerhart, and Amy, Matthew and Erin Miskiewicz.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  

Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc.

Deborah A. Herd

Deborah A. (Breslin) Herd, 66, wife of Richard E. Herd, of Royersford, PA, died on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011 at home after a brief illness.

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late Donald A. and Elizabeth T. (Manion) Breslin.

Deborah was a graduate of St. Pius X High School, Class of 1962. 

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Royersford, PA.

She worked at Charles and Stevens Hair Stylists in Strafford, PA for 44 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: a son, Donald Herd and Jennifer Conway of Royersford; daughter-In-Law, Courtney Herd of Royersford; granddaughters, Angel, Lisa and Amber; sister, Donna Sparano of Phoenixville; sister, Denise Breslin of Royersford; seven nieces, two nephews and two great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel E. Herd, in 2009, and sisters, Diane Breslin and Doreen Breslin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Lewis Road and Walnut Street, Royersford, on Aug. 24, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Peter J. DiMaria officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixville. 

Visitation will be held in the church on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Joseph DeNicola Sr.

Joseph Anthony "Jiggsy" DeNicola Sr., 72, husband of Angeline J. (Schaffer) DeNicola, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011 in Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Antonio and Elizabeth (Petrillo) DeNicola.

He graduated from Phoenixville High School, Class of 1957, where he was a standout football player.

He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966 in Oklahoma, Alaska and Germany.

He worked for the former A.P. deSanno in Phoenixville until its closing, and then worked at the Container Corporation in Oaks.

He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Phoenixville.

He was a member of Santa Anna Italian Club in Phoenixville where he had served as president.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: son, Joseph Jr., husband of Anita DeNicola, of East Vincent; daughter, Debra, wife of Al Dobrischkin, of East Coventry; daughter, Gina DiRosa of Spring City; step-daughter, Lynda, wife of Norm Warner, of White Haven; step-son, Mike, husband of Karen Painter, of East Stroudsburg; nine grandchildren: Becca, Courtney, Evan, Caden, Alyssa, Aubrey, Paul, Allen, Erica; one great-grandson: Noah; six sisters: Mary Mastrangelo of Spring City; Anna Gnias of Phoenixville; Julie Roberto of Bridgeport; Lucy Schultz of Mont Clare; Dolores, wife of Edmund Yenchick of Mont Clare; and Gloria Jean DeNicola of Mont Clare.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip DeNicola, and sister, Theresa DeNicola.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton St., Phoenixville, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Hutter officiating.

Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville.

A viewing will be held on Friday morning in the church from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 212 Dayton St., Phoenixville.

Lois I. Sload

Lois I. Sload, 84, of Charlestown Township, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 in Phoenixville Hospital.  

Born in Lionville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry B. and Rose (Quigley) Sload.  

She attended school in Lionville. Ms. Sload worked for many years at the Matthey Bishop Platinum Manufacturing company in Malvern. 

Ms Sload is survived by one sister; Elizabeth A., wife of the late Carl W. Shunk, of Pottstown, PA, and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by 10 siblings. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Campbell–Ennis–Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Friday, Aug.19, 2011 at 10 a.m.  

Burial will be in the Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA. Friends will be received from 9 - 10 a.m., Friday morning at the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her name to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.

Barry Holeton

Barry Holeton, 52, husband of Kathleen A. Nihart, of Linfield, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.  

Born in Mannington Township, NJ, he was a son of the late William M. and Marlyn M. (Pompper) Holeton. 

Barry enjoyed fishing, drawing art and listening to the radio, especially rock music. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved trips to the beach and always had a cup of tea and cigarette in his hands.

In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by his daughter: Kimberly L. Holeton of Linfield; son: Barry W. Holeton Jr. of Linfield; and granddaughter Anastasia Gould.  

He is also survived by two sisters: Patty Hall of Spring City and Sharon Bergey of Pottstown; two brothers: Kenneth Holeton of Limerick and Robert Bergey of Port Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.   

He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kopestecki.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.

Henry J. Smith

Henry J. Smith, 62, husband of the late Charmaine (Polefka) Smith, of Elverson, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 at home.

Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Henry F. and Helen (Patrick) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a member of the American Legion in Elverson and the VFW. He served in the 2/22 Infantry in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. A jack-of-all trades, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and fishing. Most of all, he loved to spend time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Tammy, wife of Steve Perry of Pottstown, and Kirsten, wife of Donald Paxson of Reading; one son John, husband of Megan Smith of Boiling Springs; five grandchildren, Taylor Perry, Easton and Reece Ferry, and Nathan and Patrick Smith; two sisters, Patricia Setzler and Nancy Smith; and one brother, Bert Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial mass at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, 2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will follow privately in the St. Ann Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Hugh J. Dougherty. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
