Phoenixville Vet and Long-Time Professor Dies

72-year-old Phoenixville resident taught college for 40 years.

David H. Katz, 72, husband of Susan I. (Rea) Katz, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Friday, April 26, 2013 in Devon Manor.

Born in New Britain, CT, he was the son of the late Leon and Sophie (Feinblum) Katz. David served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an Associate Professor at the Community College of Philadelphia for 40 years. According to an article on the College website, Katz retired from his position as an English professor in 2008.

Prof. Katz was a member of the Phoenixville Senior Center and the Phoenixville Hospital Senior Circle.

In addition to his wife, Prof.Katz is survived by his son, Demian Katz and wife Julie of Glenside, PA; his grandson, Otto Katz and his sister, Selma Bosse of California.

Funeral services will be private.
