An Educational Extravaganza

Christian Education Department of Grimes Church will kick-off its 1st Annual Educational extravaganza on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00am. It will start on Saturday with Christian Education Day with the guest speaker will being Dr. Don Meyer, President of Valley Forge Christian College in Phoenixville.  It will continue with Education Sunday featuring Ms. Beatrice Sims as the guest speaker, Director of Christian Education of St. Mathews AME Church in Philadelphia.

Christian Education has been rooted within the culture, traditions and history of African Methodism since 1794. It started in the form of Sunday school and by 1856, Christian Education took a form within higher education and established institution of higher learning.

The theme for these educational events is: Dare to Dream and everyone is asked to wear their favorite TEAM jersey or t-shirt (example: Phillies, Eagles, Patriots…etc.). This educational weekend will feature youth speakers and dancers and have health literature. In the past, Education Sunday has shown Teacher Appreciation within the Phoenxiville Area School District and this year the recipients will be some retired educators within the West-Main-line District.  All proceeds will go towards Grimes Academic Mentoring Enrichment program and the Christian Education department at Grimes Church.
