Renaissance Academy Dance Teams Earn Top Honors

WEST GROVE, PA – On Saturday, March 15, 2014, three age group levels of the Renaissance Academy Competition Teams took first place in their divisions at the Tournament Indoor Association (TIA) dance competition which was held at Avon Grove High School, West Grove, PA.  This was an all-day event which included 51 dance teams, color guard teams and drumline teams from a variety of school districts.

Dancing their routine to the song “Meant” by Elizaveta, the Renaissance Academy (RA) high school White Team were awarded first place in their division.  Members of the RA White team include Aneria Bakshi, Marina Beshay, Emily Brockman, Amira Cason, Rose Gallagher, Lianna Jante, Gabrielle Johnson, Amber Lewis, Thatchana Rajasekar, Tori Robbins, Tierney Rojas, and Lauren Weston.  The RA high school Black team also danced a successful day, placing 2nd in their division.

The RA Silver Team (middle school level) and Diamond Team (elementary school level) each brought home a 1st place trophy from their divisions.  The Silver Team dancers include Jessica Dauphinais, Amanda Friemann, Katrina Gambone, Rose Newmiller, Allie Rose, Ashlynn Solomon, and Lilly Urkuski.  The Diamond team’s roster included Sarah Algeo, Cordi Brown, Julianna Buli, Autumn Calabrese, Taylor Darden, Danielle Dauphinais, Dayaa Dopwell, Grace Grenier, Genevieve Heme, Carly Higgins, Amelia Ingersoll, Jurnee Jessie, Elizabeth Klemp, Isabella Kolter, Theresa Kolter, Maggie Mastrangelo, Aliyah Quill, Alexandra Right, Julia Thoms, Dominique Vinson, Cassie Waskiewicz, and Olivia White.

Also placing in their divisions were the RA Maroon Team (middle school level) and Sapphire Team (elementary school level), who were awarded 2nd place.  Mehgan Jarvie, Dance Director at the Renaissance Academy said that she was very proud of her teams and happy with the continuing progress they are making.  “All of our teams increased their point scores from the last competition,” said Mrs. Jarvie.  “The TIA judges were very happy with all of the performances and said our teams had great energy.”

The Renaissance Academy Dance Team’s next TIA team competition will be on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at Abington High School.
