79-Year-Old Who Allegedly Sexually Assaulted Teen Released from Prison
Donald Schnovel will face trial in October.
Donald Schnovel, the 79-year-old Phoenixville man who was on charges of , has been released from prison and his trial has been continued to October, The Mercury is reporting.
According to the paper, since Schnovel was charged on February 15, he had been held in Chester County Prison on $500,000 bail, but because 180 days had passed since his arrest and he or his attorney did not ask for a continuance during this period, he was entitled to be released on nominal bail, a $1 fee. He posted and was released on August 17.
He will be on electronically monitored house arrest until his October 15 trial date.

, on November 21, 2011, a 14-year-old girl told a corporal with the Phoenixville Police Department that Schnovel, a family friend, had, in a series of assaults spanning the previous summer, performed numerous sexual acts with her; each in his red Ford Mustang, and on one occasion in the parking lot of Phoenixville Hospital.
Schnovel later admitted to police that he had kissed the girl, taken pictures of her, sexually penetrated her with his finger, and offered her $5 to perform oral sex on him.
