Blotter: Juvenile Flees Bike Chase, Jumps in French Creek to Avoid Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Phoenixville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following incidents were reported between May 21 and 23.

Juvenile Flees Arrest Downtown 

Police saw a 17-year-old Phoenixville juvenile wanted on a warrant riding a bicycle on South Main Street on May 21 at 10:33 p.m.

The officer knew the juvenile had an active bench warrant from Montgomery County Juvenile Probation.

When spotted, the juvenile fled in the area of South Main and Church streets. An bicycle patrol officer pursued the juvenile on his bike, chasing him down Main Street to Prospect Street then Bank Street and finally to Taylor Alley and the Foundry Building, where the juvenile jumped in the French Creek.

The juvenile swam down the creek, and police lost sight of him in the 100 block of Bridge Street. The search was called off.

Accident with Property Damage on Morgan Street

A 1998 Toyota Corolla struck another vehicle while parking on May 21 shortly before 4:19 p.m.

The victim had photos of the striking vehicle touching his car. The Corolla also scraped the rear bumper of another vehicle in front of it.

Police tracked down the driver of the Corolla and insurance information was exchanged.

Man Cited for Driving Unlicensed After Crash

Osualdo Centeno, 36, lost the ability to steer and hit a parked car in the 1400 block of Anderson Avenue on May 23 shortly before 10:11 a.m.

Centeno stopped the car, which was towed by Pejey’s . No one was injured. Centeno was cited for driving without a license.

Lawnmower Stolen on Bridge Street

A thief stole a black and red lawnmower from the front yard in the unit block of Bridge Street during the overnight hours on May 23.

Public Urination on Bridge Street

While on foot patrol, an officer noticed a male urinating behind a car in the 100 block of Bridge Street on May 22 at 2:25 a.m.

Wilfredo Pellot-Santiago, 33, was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.

Vehicle Break-in on Anderson Avenue

Sometime overnight on May 23, someone went through the contents of an unlocked vehicle parked in the unit block of Anderson Avenue.

An unknown amount of change was removed from an ashtray.

Vehicle Break-in on Melvin Road

During the overnight hours on May 23 someone went through an unlocked vehicle in the unit block of Melvin Road.

A GPS device in the car was moved but nothing was taken from the vehicle.

Vehicle Break-in on Natalie Road

A vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Natalie Road was broken into and the contents were rummaged through during the overnight hours on May 23.

Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

Vehicle Break-in on Campwood Drive

Someone rummaged through two unlocked vehicles in the 1200 block of Campwood Drive sometime during the overnight hours on May 23.

Nothing was taken from the vehicles.

Tire Slashed on Gold Street

A victim reported that someone slashed her back passenger’s side tire sometime during the overnight hours on May 23.

The vehicle was parked in the 400 block of Gold Street.

Open Container on Bridge Street

Justin Gambino, 27, of Mont Clare, was cited for leaving P.J. Ryan’s Pub with an open container on May 21 at 12:23 a.m.

According to a police report, he left the pub with an open bottle of Miller Lite and was walking down the sidewalk in the 200 block of Bridge Street with it.
