Ever wonder what a day in the life of a police officer is like? Wonder no more.
On April 13, the East Pikeand Police Department is inviting residents to get a crash course in law enforcement with its Citizen Police Academy.
According to the department:
The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give citizens an overview of the East Pikeland Township Police Department. Graduates of this course will have a better understanding of the operation of the Police Department, and a greater awareness and appreciation of the daily challenges faced by the East Pikeland Township Police Department. Graduates will not be certified as police officers.
The free program will take place at the East Pikeland police station. Topics that will be covered include patrol, crime prevention, criminal investigations, drugs, crime scene, evidence collection, traffic enforcement, use of force, search and seizure, mock trial, and special opperations. The instruction will takeplace both in the classroom and the field.
While the academy is open to all individuals, seating is limited and the department reserves the right to deny admittance to any individual. (A standard background check will be conducted using the information provided in the application—a prior criminal conviction may prohibit participation in the Citizen Police Academy.)
