Ex-Phoenixville Principal Charged with Child Porn, Feds Say

OUTSIDE PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Federal child pornography charges have been filed against former Phoenixville Middle School Principal Dr. Troy Czukoski.

Czukoski, 42, of Exton, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office Public Affairs Specialist Patty Hartman.

(UPDATE: Phoenixville Area School District says investigators requested Czukoski's personnel file last fall.)

Czukoski possessed more than 150 but less than 300 images of children engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Czukoski, who left Phoenixville Area School District in July 2012 to take a position as Principal at Springton Lake Middle School in Media, was placed on leave in October when Rose Tree Media School District officials were notified of a federal investigation, however, there was no word as to what the investigation was regarding.

If convicted, Czukoski faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years in prison, a mandatory five years of supervised release up to a lifetime of supervised release, a $250,000 fine and a $100 special assessment, according to Hartman.

The U.S. Attorney charges that:

"Czukoski knowingly possessed books, magazines, periodicals, films, video tapes and other matter, namely two flash drives, CDs and DVDs, which contained more than 150 but less than 300 visual depictions that had been produced using materials which had been shipped and transported in interstate and foreign commerce. The production of these visual depictions involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and the visual depictions were of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct."

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella.

This was Czukoski's first year as Springton Lake principal, though he served in that capacity at Phoenixville Area Middle School for seven years before moving to district office. He was hired as Springton Lake principal in July.
