Blaze Draws Firefighters from Phoenixville and Chesco to Malvern

A morning house fire leaves a young family of four homeless.

Fire destroyed a single family home in the 300 block of Old Lincoln Highway during rush hour Tuesday morning.

Three adults and one child were inside at the time of the fire, but were able to get out of the house before emergency services arrived. The four were taken Paoli Hospital by ambulance. A mother and father in their 20's and a three year old girl were treated and released.  The child's grandmother was being held overnight for observation, according to the family.

Two dogs and two cars perished in the fire, according to Malvern Fire Chief Neil Vaughn.

The fire started at about 7:30 a.m., according to Malvern Fire Chief Neil Vaughn.

Fire companies from all over Chester County, including Malvern, Paoli, Berwyn, East Whiteland, West Chester and Phoenixville responded to the call.

The family, who lost virtually everything but the clothes on their back, was being helped with overnight accommodations by the Chester County Red Cross.
