"The State Police will make every effort to identify, prosecute and imprison drug dealers," Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said.

Pennsylvania State Police seized millions of dollars worth of heroin and marijuana, as well as significant quantities of other drugs, during the second quarter of 2014, they announced this week.

Seized in the second quarter were more than 24.5 kilograms of heroin, with a street value of abut $18.3 million, and more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of about $3.8 million.

“Gov. (Tom) Corbett has tasked the State Police with getting these illegal drugs and drug dealers off the streets and away from our children,” said Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan.  “The State Police will make every effort to identify, prosecute and imprison drug dealers.”

Additionally, Noonan said, State Police seized 7,500 prescription pills; 7 pounds of methamphetamines; and 4.3 kilos of cocaine.

The total street value of drugs seized in the second quarter was more than $23 million, State Police said.

The total street value of all drugs seized in Pennsylvania in 2013 was $55 million.

“I am extremely proud of the work done by the Pennsylvania State Police, and I am looking forward to our continued partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration and our state and local partners,” Noonan said.
