'House of Horrors' Abortion Clinic Employee to Face Trial

Phoenixville's Eileen O'Neill worked at the West Philadelphia clinic, according to police.

A 56-year-old Phoenixville woman is scheduled to stand trial for her role at a West Philadelphia abortion clinic media outlets have referred to as a “House of Horrors,” Philly.com is reporting.

According to the publication, Eileen O'Neill worked at the Women's Medical Society health clinic, which authorities raided three years ago.

O’Neill faces charges of theft by deception for allegedly posing as a doctor despite not having a license. the grand jury report called this claim "a sham." She, according to the report, introduced herself to patients as a clinician, diagnosed conditions, prescribed medication, and signed charts.

Police say the man who ran the clinic, Kermit Barron Gosnell, delivered seven babies before killing them with scissors, and prescribed medicine that killed a woman after she had an abortion at the clinic.

The grand jury report added that the clinic was in gruesome condition when authorities raided it.

“The search team discovered fetal remains haphazardly stored throughout the clinic—in bags, milk jugs, orange juice cartons and even in cat-food containers. Some fetal remains were in a refrigerator, others were frozen,” according to the Grand Jury. (Warning: Details in the report are very graphic)

Jury selection for the trial began on Monday and, according to Philly.com, could take weeks.
