Man Charged With Raping Phoenixville Girl, 14

Police detail how the two met.

A 20-year-old Delaware County man is facing felony statutory rape charges for having sex with a 14-year-old Phoenixville teen.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the court case, the two met through an online dating service. Police say that teen initiated contact with Alexander Stinger of Upper Darby through the website back in "July/August 2012." According to police, the girl told Stinger that she was 14 and "Stinger told her that he did not care about her age."

According to court documents filed by Phoenixville Police:

"Stinger and (the teen) arranged to meet on Joneal Road in Phoenixville. Stinger invited (the teen) into his car and drove (her) to an undisclosed location in Phoenixville. Stinger stopped the vehicle and parked on a side street. Stinger asked (the teen) 'if she wanted to do it?' Stinger started to kiss (the teen) and touched her... on the top of her clothes. Stinger removed (the teen's) shorts and underwear. Stinger partially removed his shorts and underwear and placed a condom on his penis. (The teen) said that Stinger had vaginal intercourse with her."

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case, Stinger confirmed the account to police. Police say that Stinger told a Phoenixville investigator that he had sexual intercourse with the teen "for a short time and then stopped."

Police say "Stinger told (the teen) that he did not want to have sex with her anymore. Stinger said that (the teen) acted immature and he acknowledged that he stopped having sex with her because he thought she could be younger than 17 years old."

Stinger was charged with multiple offenses including Statutory Sexual Assault, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Luring a Child into a Motor Vehicle, Indecent Assault of a Person under 16, and Corruption of Minors.

Sad to call this "rape" he was obviously lied to about her age. 14 year old girls looks are very deceiving, many dress and act so much older. I guess one should ask for ID when "hooking up" I just feel bad that he is labeled a rapist now.

The beginning states 14. Then towards to end it mentions 17. Something isn't adding up in this story. Also, it doesn't sound like he forced himself on her. Although, I was not there. So I can't judge or speculate.

According to science the brain does not fully mature until 25. However it is a lot more mature at 20 than14. Even if he thought she was 17 he should not be having sex with a kid still in high school, in a car on a street. A few questions would have told him her age, but all he wanted was sex.

The "17" refers to the age the defendant in this case thought his alleged victim was under. She is 14, according to police.

A minor is a minor. But it doesn't say that she said no or stop. It says he asked her, but doesn't say what her reply was. This report is missing information, but sex with a minor is illegal regardless.

Do you really have to include the details listed in the court documents in this article? We understand what rape is.

You can't get charged with statutory rape in this state, so why does it say rape in the article title? I know him personally. He is not a rapist. I don't know the full story but I do know that 14 year olds act and dress like they're older. Don't be so quick to judge. It is possible she lied about her age and he got suspicious and stopped. The article doesn't add up.

Who writes an article like this and what system of checks and balances lets it go to print? Just because you have access to the details doesn't mean you print it.
