First responders from numerous area companies come to the rescue.

First responders from Phoenixville, Kimberton and the Chester County rescue team helped pull a man to safety Thursday night after he reportedly got a stuck in a ravine near the abandoned Phoenixville/Fairview Tunnel.

Phoenixville Fire Company member and Photographer Anthony Franz sent these photos and the following description of the incident to Phoenixville Patch.

"Just before 9 p.m. (on Thursday The Chester County) Fire Board dispatched the department (65) and Trappe-Phoenixville EMS (85) for rescue of an individual stuck on a cliff in the area of Cromby Road and Fillmore Street.

The (man) was mid-way on a ravine and was unable to free (himself). Upon arrival, personnel searched the area and made contact with the individual on the Cromby Road side of the railroad bed near the abandoned Phoenixville/Fairview Tunnel.

Command requested Kimberton (61) for an ATV and the Chester County Rescue Task Force (72) to the scene. After investigating access from multiples sides, it was determined it would be best to rescue the individual by using a combination of safety lines and repelling from above. The individual was extricated and briefly checked by EMS. Units were on-scene for almost two hours. Fire units from Black Rock and Trappe covered Phoenixville borough during this incident."
