Murder Investigation Netted Woman on Drug Charges
When police were investigating the murder of Selvin Lopez-Mauricio, they allegedly found drugs in a Bridge Street apartment.
A felony drug charge and three other charges were held for county court Thursday for Caitlin Scheirenbeck, who police arrested while investigating the murder of Selvin Lopez-Mauricio.
According to Det. Sgt. Joseph Nemic of the Phoenixville Police Department, detectives were serving a warrant on Saleem Williams, one of three people charged in the of Lopez-Mauricio, when they allegedly found drugs in an apartment in the unit block of Bridge Street.
According to a criminal complaint, Schierenbeck, 19, of Phoenixville, opened the door for police on Sept. 20 at 11:35 a.m. when they went to an apartment to serve a warrant on Williams. Upon entering the apartment, the criminal complaint states that police “smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana.”

Court documents stated that police saw a zip-top bag and two burnt marijuana cigarettes out in the open on a table in the apartment.
“Scheierenbeck was asked if she had any weapons on her and she [said] no, but did surrender a large clear plastic baggie containing seven smaller plastic baggies with suspected marijuana inside that she had concealed in her bra,” the criminal complaint states.

The substance in the bags field-tested positive for the presence of marijuana, according to police. While police were interviewing Schierenbeck, she allegedly admitted that she planned to sell the marijuana.
Scheirenbeck was taken into custody and charged with a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver and related misdemeanor charges. She was held in Chester County Prison on $50,000 cash bail.
In district court Thursday, District Judge Theodore Michaels changed the bail type to unsecured, and Schierenbeck was freed. All charges in the case were held for the court of common pleas, and a formal arraignment date is set for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 20.
