Overturned Truck Snarls 422

Dump truck was reportedly carrying 21 tons of ash

An overturned dump truck snarled traffic on Route 422 near the interchange with Route 724 on Wednesday morning, causing a traffic backup that lasted through the morning rush hour and into midday.

The Pottstown Mercury reported that the crash took place before 8:00 a.m. and that the truck had been carrying 21 tons of ash from Conshohocken to Colebrookdale in Berks County.

The truck had been uprighted and was resting in the shoulder of the roadway's westbound lanes by 11:30 a.m. but emergency crews remained at the scene and westbound traffic was still reduced to one lane on the roadway.
